Our Junior B side lost out to Lissycasey in the Division 5 League final on Saturday at a sun drenched Cooraclare. Playing against a significant wind in the first half Miltown found themselves nine points down after the opening ten minutes as Lissycasey exerted pressure on the Miltown defence. A Paddy Greene free got Miltown off the mark after twelve minutes, further scores from Podge Deveraux and Paddy Greene from play left the scores at Lissycasey 0-10 to Miltowns 0-03 at the first water break. Oisin Meade added a point after the break , however Lissycasey added three points of their own in the space of three minutes to extend their advantage. Miltown finished the half strongly and points from Paddy Greene, Podge Deveraux and Conor Neylon left seven between the sides at half time with the wind advantage to favour Miltown in the second half.
Miltown began the second half strongly with a Conor Neylon two pointer and a fine save from Coilin Hayes showing they were still in the fight. A Tim Lenihan two pointer and a similar effort from a free from Paddy Greene saw Miltown reel in the first half deficit to just two points at the second half water break. This break however seemed to stop all the momentum Miltown had built up and Lissycasey began to turn the screw and score 1-5 to Miltowns no score in the final fifteen minutes to see them run out winners on a 1-20 to 0-13 scoreline.
Attention now switches to a Junior B Championship first round clash with neighbours Ennistymon at the August bank holiday weekend
