Miltown fell to a four point defeat to Kilrush in a high scoring game played in sunny but breezy conditions in Kilrush on Sunday. Playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half Miltown found themselves two points down after five minutes before points from Cormac Murray and Euan Lineen levelled matters . A Ronan keavey point gave Miltown the lead and a two point effort from Cormac Murray meant Miltown lead 0-5 to 0-4 after 15 minutes. The home side got on level terms before a monster two pointer from Darragh McDonagh re-established Miltown's lead, further two pointers from Euan Lineen & Ralph Whelehan were answered by scores from the hosts to leave three between the sides at half time , Miltown 0-11 to Kilrush 0-08.
Cormac Murray opened the scoring in the second half before a Kilrush goal and point levelled the game early in the half. Cormac re-established Miltown's lead only to see the hosts strike for 1-1 in quick succession to give them a three point lead after eight minutes of a whirlwind opening to the half. Euan Lineen knocked over a close in free before kilrush struck for their third goal of the game. Ralph Whelehan pointed for Miltown and a Euan Lineen free left the scores Miltown 0-16 to 3-15 behind with nine minutes remaining. Miltown really stepped up the pressure and points from Cormac Murray (2) , Darragh Mc Donagh and a two point free form Cormac left four between the sides as the game entered injury time. Cormac knocked over a free to bring it back to a one score game but unfortunately the home sides struck for the final point of the game to run out winners 3-17 to 0-22.
Despite the loss Miltown have qualified for the Cusack Cup semi final where they will take on St.Breckans.
