Our senior side suffered a five point defeat to Doonbeg in the O'Gorman Cup on Sinday in a game played on the Clarecastle Astro pitch.
Fielding a much changed side from Wednesdays Cusack Cup game v Lissycasey , Miltown traded scores with Doonbeg for the first half with points coming from Darragh McDonagh (2), Conall Meade, Eoin Devenney & Cian Mahony leaving the sides level at 0-5 a piece at half time.
Doonbeg opened up a two point lead in the early stages of the second half before a trademark Cian Mahony 2 pointer brought the teams level again as Miltown made a number of changes to the starting lineup. Doonbeg again pulled away to a three point lead before points from Euan Lineen & Cian Mahony reduced the arrears to the minimum as the half wore on.
Doonbeg then racked up the last few scores of the game to run out winners on a 0--09 to 0-14 scoreline.
Next up for the lads is a trip to Quilty to take on the home side in the Cusack Cup.
