Cusack Cup Round 3 v Lissycasey 08/04/2026 at Hennessy Memorial Park

Our senior side suffered their first loss in this years Cusack Cup going down by three points to Lissycasey in an entertaining game in Hennessy Memorial Park.
Miltown started brightly with scores from play by David Barry & Oisin Looney giving them an early lead before Lissycasey opened their account in the 7th minute.
A free from Euan Lineen in the 12th minute restored a two point lead , however Lissycasey began to grow into the game and with the aid of the breeze began to pick off a number of 2 point efforts to give them a 6 point lead after 20 minutes . Another Euan Lineen free reduced the deficit ,but the visitors kicked on in the remaining 10 minutes of the half adding a further 5 points to their total to leave the score at halftime Miltown 0-4 Lissycasey 0-14.
Miltown began the second half well and Cian Mahony had 5 points on the scoreboard in the opening 8 minutes including two fine 2 point efforts from play. Lissycasey extended their lead with the next two points before Cian was on the marl with a point from an acute angle followed by another 2 point effort this time from a free, Euan lineen then got in on the act adding two points from play in reply to another Lissycasey score to leave two points between the teams with 5 minutes remaining in normal time. Lissycasey extended their lead before a Darragh McDonagh point left it all to play for as we headed into injury time. Lissycasey however finished strongly adding 2 more points to their tally before a Euan Lineen free on the stroke of full time left three between the sides.
This game has an unique feature in that both teams were sponsored by C&L Heating and Plumbing Services and both squads got together for a picture with Danny Lynch & Peter Cunningham after the game.
